The Municipal House celebrates its 100th opening anniversary

Exactly 100 years ago in January 1912 lights of this beautiful Art Nouveau building in Prague started to shine. The impression this building gives is enhanced by a wide range of decorative styles and materials, as well as by the high quality of craftsmanship. The monumental appearance of the building is crowned by the outstanding decor created by most of the prominent Czech artists of the day, namely the painters Mikolas Ales, Alfons Mucha or Max Svabinský and the sculptors Josef Maratka or Josef Vaclav Myslbek.  For 100 years it has  been the centre of cultural and social life of local residents and visitors to the capital city. For this reason, the celebrations will include a number of both cultural and culinary events.

On this unique occasion the French Restaurant located in the ground floor has prepared a special anniversary menu which is historically linked to the dishes and drinks that were served here 100 years ago. The menu has been prepared by the French Chef Jacques Auffrays, the current head of the team of cooks. Dining does not include just the outstanding menu, but also the look and setting of the festive table, including the historical inventory. Moreover, the celebrations will bring back to the dining tables the famous drinking set of the Moser glassworks - Splendid, which incidentally was also created a hundred years ago.
